CBSE Class 12-science Answered
Time period is calculated for one complete revolution but in cyclotron proton completes only half revolution then changes its radius due to spiral revolution even though we calculate time period for it is correct or wrong to calculate like that?

Expert Answer
It is correct. In cyclotron, the proton moves in circular orbits of increasing radius. But, in this process, the velocity also increases.
Hence, the net effect is that the time period remains the same.
Hence, one can consider time period as it is independent of the radius.
