The toy is in the form of a cylinder surmounted by a cone. The cylinder is of diameter 30 cm and height 23 cm and the cone has slant height 17 cm. Calculate the surface area of the toy.

Radius of the conical part = Radius of the cylindrical part (r) = 15 cm

Height of cylindrical part (h) = 23 cm, slant height of the cone (l ) = 17 cm

Surface area of the toy = Curved surface area of the conical part + curved surface area of the cylindrical part

equals πr space left parenthesis l plus 2 straight h right parenthesis
equals 22 over 7 cross times 15 open parentheses 17 plus 2 cross times 23 close parentheses
equals 22 over 7 cross times 15 cross times 63

Surface area of the toy is 2970 cm2
