Right side of image is cut , I assume 2 kg block moves with 8 m/s and 1 kg block moves with 2 m/s.
 
Also I assume, question asked is when the 1 kg block will stop?
 
Let us consider at a given instant 1 kg block moves with 2 m/s
and a retarding force due to friction is acting against this movement.
 
retarding force = μ×R = 0.4×1×9.8 = 3.92 N ,
where R is reaction force experienced by 1 kg block when it is resting on 2 kg block.
 
retardation experienced by 1 kg block = 3.92/1 = 3.92 m/s2 .
 
to find out when it will stop, we need to use the eqn., " v = u - a×t ",
where v is final velocity which is zero, u is initial velocity which is 2 m/s and a is retardation which is 3.92 m/s2.
 
hence t = u/a = 2/3.92 ≈ 0.5 s
