The sum of one-fifth of a number and one-sixth of its next consecutive even number is 4. What is the number ? Plz solve it stepwise and explain every move .

Let the required number = x
Next cosecutive even number = (x + 2)
 
According to the condition, we get
begin mathsize 16px style 1 fifth left parenthesis straight x right parenthesis space plus space 1 over 6 open parentheses straight x space plus space 2 close parentheses space equals space 4 rightwards double arrow space fraction numerator 6 straight x space plus space 5 straight x space plus space 10 over denominator 30 end fraction equals 4 rightwards double arrow 11 straight x space plus space 10 space equals space 120 rightwards double arrow 11 straight x space space equals space 110 rightwards double arrow space straight x space equals space 10 end style
So, the required number is 10.
