Present population = 1,00,00,000.

Let old population be x.

Population of 1st year ago = x + x of 25% = 1,00,00,000

1.25x = 1,00,00,000

x = 80,00,000

Population of 2nd year ago = x + x of 25% = 80,00,00

1.25x = 80,000

x = 64,00,000

Population of 3rd year ago = x + x of 25% = 64,00,000

1.25x = 64,00,000

x = 51,20,000

Hence,

difference between the population 3 years ago and 2 years ago = 64,00,000 – 51,00,000 = 12,80,000
