The minimum weight of tomato obtained from a plant is 20g. The maximum weight of tomato obtained is 120g. What will be the weight of tomato obtained by crossing plant with genotype AAbb x aabb.
Minimum weight of tomato = 20 g = aabb
Maximum weight of tomato = 120 g = AABB
Parents – AAbb and aabb
Gametes – Ab and ab
Offspring - Aabb
AA = BB = 60, A = 30, B = 30
aa = bb = 10, a = 5, b = 5
Therefore, calculating the contribution for every gene, we get-
Aabb = 30 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 45 g
So, the weight of the progeny tomato = 45 g- 1
