The length of an object kept at a distance of 25 cm from a convex lens is half of the object .Find the focal length of the mirror

magnification v/u = 1/2 hence v = u/2
where u is object-to-lens distance and v is image-to-lens distance
we have lens equation, ( 1/v ) - ( 1/u ) = 1/f .......................(1)
we have u = -25 cm (as per sign convention) and v = 25/2 cm
substituting values in eqn.(1), ( 1/f ) = (2/25) + (1/25) = 3/25 or focal length f = 25/3 cm = 8.33 cm
