Since the beginning, the frog behaves in an extremely superior and in a condescending manner. When he hears the nightingale singing, his money-minded brain takes a chance at critically analysing her voice with the sole purpose of making money from her singing. He is trying to convince her to take training from him. The presumptuous and boastful frog warns the nightingale that unless she is trained under him, she will remain merely a beginner. The nightingale falls prey to his tricks because she is easily influenced and forgets that one should sing for oneself and not for others. The nightingale is a poor judge of character. She comes under the influence of the manipulate frog who trains her in bad weather and makes her in over practice. The frog justifies the manner in which the nightingale ultimately perishes by calling her gullible, mentioning that she was 'far too prone to influence'. This statement is extremely ironical coming from the Frog as it was he who influenced her the most and was the reason behind her demise.
