  The curved area of a cone is 792 cm2 and its radius and slant height are in the ratio 4:7. Calculate its radius.

Let slant height (l) = 7x  and radius = 4x

Curved surface area= 792 cm2                                                     

begin mathsize 12px style πr l italic space equals space 792
22 over 7 cross times 4 x italic space cross times space 7 x italic space equals space 792
x squared italic space equals space 9
x italic space italic space italic space equals space 3 space cm end style

Thus radius= 4x = 4×3 = 12 cm.
