Yes, I agree that the Bhopal Gas Tragedy took place because of the indifferent attitude of the government towards safety. It was caused by the following facts:
- Government officials refused to recognise the plant as hazardous and allowed it to be set up at Bhopal.
- When it was pointed out by some municipal workers that the MIC production unit in 1978 was a safety violation, no step was taken to look into their complaints.
- Government officers always approved the safety procedures in the plant in spite of several leakages of gases and accidents.
