Expert Answer
Superlative adjectives are used to describe an object which is at the upper or lower limit of a quality (the tallest, the smallest, the fastest, the highest). They are used in sentences where a subject is compared to a group of objects.
For example: A horse is the most intelligent animal among its species.
When comparing two items, the comparative degree is used. You cannot change the degree of an adjective or adverb to superlative degree when the comparison is between only two objects.
