Tell me in short(trick) to put place value of v, u, f in light lesson class 10

For substituting the values of v, u and f you first of all need to know sign conventions. 
Once you know the sign conventions, while substituting it will be easier for you to substitute their values along with the signs ( Positive or negative sign)
Be thorough with the ray diagrams and tables of the position of object and their respective position of image as well as the nature of image. Knowing this will help you to check the whether the answer you have come up with is right or wrong.
