Suppose the earth shrinks wuch that is radius decreases to half the present value. What will be the acceleration due to gravity on the surface of the earth?

If the radius if shrinked to half its value, i.e. R' = R/2
then the acceleration due to gravity, g = GM/R'2 = 4GM/R2 = 4g
i.e. it increases 4 times
