suppose a spring with constant k is put against a wall at its one end and an external force F is acted upon by hands on it's opposite end. what is the net force on the spring? and also what will the force the spring will exert on the spring ?

If the x-axis of a coordinate system is chosen parallel to the spring and the equilibrium position of the free end of the spring is at x = 0, then

F = -kx.

k = Y A/L
