(b) The surface of water was covered with oil to prevent any loss of water by evaporation.
(c) Test tube B is kept as a control. No change in the water level of Test tube B will come. Test tube B acts as control in the experiment. The change in the experimental set up can be observed and compared with the control and hence it becomes easy to draw the correct conclusion.
