The Lok Sabha is considered more powerful than the Rajya Sabha because of its special powers. These special powers are

  1. Money bills can be introduced only in the Lok Sabha. After gaining approval from Lok Sabha, it is then sent to the Rajya Sabha where it can be deliberated on for up to 14 days.
  2. When the two Houses of Parliament face a deadlock over a non-financial bill, the will of the Lok Sabha prevails because of its strength.
  3. Only the Lok Sabha has the right to introduce and pass a motion of No-Confidence against the government. If the motion is passed by the majority vote, the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers have to resign collectively. The Rajya Sabha has no such power over the executive.
