State the law of floatation.

When a body floats in a liquid, the weight of the body acting vertically downwards at its centre of gravity is equal to the weight of the liquid displaced by the immersed part of the body acting at the centre of buoyancy (i.e. the centre of gravity of the displaced liquid).
