  1. Oxygen is essential for respiration. Animals and humans cannot survive without oxygen.
  2. Nitrogen is the source of protein in all living organisms and hence helps in their growth.
  3. Carbon dioxide is used by plants to make food. It also keeps the planet warm by absorbing heat reflected by the Earth.
  4. Water vapour is responsible for causing rain and snow.
  5. Ozone absorbs the harmful ultra violet rays of the Sun which can cause many diseases among the humans.
