The effects that General Assembly has on the country are:
- The Fundamental Rights are partially or wholly suspended. Even the right to move to Supreme Court or a State High Court for enforcement of the rights remains suspended, except Articles 20 and 21.
- The country has to forego its federal spirit, as the States are obliged to carry out the instructions of the Centre.
- The financial provisions of the Constitution are suspended by the Centre.
- During emergency, the term of the Lok Sabha may be extended for a period of one year at a time. The same rule gets applied to the Legislative Assembly or any state.
