The effects that General Assembly has on the country are:

  1. The Fundamental Rights are partially or wholly suspended. Even the right to move to Supreme Court or a State High Court for enforcement of the rights remains suspended, except Articles 20 and 21.

  2. The country has to forego its federal spirit, as the States are obliged to carry out the instructions of the Centre.

  3. The financial provisions of the Constitution are suspended by the Centre.

  4. During emergency, the term of the Lok Sabha may be extended for a period of one year at a time. The same rule gets applied to the Legislative Assembly or any state.
