State the conditions under which hooks law holds good$?

Hooke's law states that within the elastic limit the stress is directly proportional to the strain.
Thus, Hooke's law holds good within the elastic limit.
So, if the elastic limit is not exceeded the force applied on the material is directly proportional to the extension of the material.
