Calculate the number of atoms in each of the following:
(a) 0.4 mole of nitrogen
(b) 1.4 gm of sulphur

(a) 0.4 mole nitrogen

      We know,
No. of atoms = No. of moles × Avogadro's number

                      = 0.4 × 6.022×1023

No. of atoms = 2.4088 ×1023

(b) 1.6 gm of sulphur

No. of atoms = No. of moles × Avogadro's number

     Molarmass of sulphur = 32

No. of moles of sulphur =

equals fraction numerator 1.6 over denominator 32 end fraction

equals 0.05 space mol

  No. of atoms =  0.05 × 6.022×1023

  No. of atoms = 3.011 ×1022
