Answer:

Two forces acting on the bob are:

a)      weight mg acting vertically downward
b)      tension T acting along the string
By resolving T in horizontal and vertical direction we find that

T cos 5o = mg

T sin 5o   ma

Dividing both the equations we get:

tan 5o=a/g

a=g tan 5o=10 x 0.087 = 0.87 m/s2
