we have to use the formula " s = ut-(1/2)at2 "
 
here s = 15 m, u = 2 m/s, a = 0.1 m/s2 
 
15 = 2×t - (1/2)×(0.1)t2 = 2×t - 0.05×t2
 
hence we have t2-40t+300 = 0; solving this we get t = 10 s or t = 30 s;
 
final velocity after 10 s = 2 - 0.1 × 10 = 1 m/s
final velocity after 30 s = 2 - 0.1 × 30 = -1 m/s
 
Correct answer is 10 s in its forward journey or 30 s in its backward journey
