Equation for displacement x of the block executing SHM, x = d sin(ωt)
where d is amplitude, ω is angular frequency and t is time
velocity of block, dx/dt = - d ω cos(ωt)
acceleration of block, d2x/dt2 = - d ω2 sin(ωt)
force acting on the block due to SHM, F = m×(d2x/dt2 ) = - m d ω2 sin(ωt) ...........................(1)
from eqn.(1), maximum force Fmax acting on the block, when the plate is depressed extreme down is given by,
Fmax = m d ω2 .......................(2)
To get the maximum frequency f so that the block of mass does not leave the platform,
we equate the maximum force to its weight which is the gravitation force acting downward
Hence, m d ω2 = m d 4π2 f2 = m g or
