So if the shape is similar to that seen in an upwardly projected body doesn't it mean that the body is decelerating as it moves up and then continues to decelerate as it reaches maximum height and come back down? When a body is projected vertically upwards it is undergoing negative acceleration,right? After reaching maximum height when the object starts moving down is it still undergoing negative acceleration? Please explain.

Answer:
No. When a body is projected vertically upwards, the acceleration is negative but the displacement is positive, i.e. in the upward direction. However, when the body is coming down, the acceleration is positive but the displacement is negative. Hence, the displacement curve will be as shown before.
