Air transport contributes to economic development by enabling the movement of passengers and goods across borders, irrespective of the distance. According to the IATA (International Air Transport Association), global air travel has expanded tenfold and air cargo fourteenfold compared to only a threefold to fourfold rise in world GDP. So we can say that it contributes tot he country's GDP, provide employment and generates revenues.
It helps the industries which deals in perishable goods by quickly transporting perishable goods from one place to the other. Pawanhans Helicopter Ltd. provides helicopter services to Oil and Natural gas Corporation in its off shore operations in difficult terrains.
THus we can say that the airways impact the Indian economy in a big way.
