Sir I just want to ask..how to resolve the components of vector..means where to take sin and cos theta...it's troubling me so much please provide the solution with some examples..if there's any rule please mention it

Simple rules to resolve a Vector:
 
(The above example shows the resolution of the force 'mg' which is acting downward)
  • Resolution of vectors is generally done when the effect of a force has to be analysed along the axes.
  • In such case, the component of a force which is normal (perpendicular) to the plane of the surface on which the body lies, is taken as the product of the force and Cosine of the angle at which the plane of the surface is inclined at (theta).
  • Whereas the componenet of a force which is parallel to the plane of the surface is resolved as the product of force and the Sine of the angle at which the plane of the surface is inclined at (theta).
