Sir hydrometer is used to check density of water

while

lactometer is used to check purity of milk

but in generate test its telling that hydrometer is used to check purity of milk

tell me which is the correct one ?

Yes 'lactometer' is used to measure purity of milk. However, lactometer is a type of hydrometer. So, one can say that a lactometer is used to measure the purity of milk.

Also the term lactometer is not introduced in ICSE- VII, so the term hydrometer has to be used.
