Expert Answer
let the fixed charge is = x
let the charge per KM is = y
x + 12y = 89
x + 20y = 145
subtract 2nd equation from the first one, we get
-8y = -56
y = 7
x + 12(7) = 89
x + 84 = 89
x = 89-84
x = 5
so for a journey of 30km a person have to pay :
x + 30y = 5 + 30(7)
= 5 + 210 = Rs. 215
