  1. a) -2 ( 3 ( x + 2 ) + 4 ) - 8
    = -2 ( 3x + 6 + 4) - 8
    = -2 ( 3x + 10 ) - 8
    = -6x - 20 - 8
    = -6x - 28

    b) 4 ( -3x - 2 ( x - 9) ) - 7 ( x - 2)
    = 4 ( -3x -2x + 18 ) - 7x + 14
    = 4 (-5x + 18) - 7x + 14
    = -20x + 72 - 7x + 14
    = -27x + 86
