answered-by-expert Expert Answer
The three points are said to be collinear if their area is 0.

Let,
A = (-5,1), B=(1,-1) and C = (1,-2)

Substitute the values in the below formula,

begin mathsize 16px style open square brackets straight x subscript 1 open parentheses straight y subscript 2 space minus straight y subscript 3 space close parentheses space plus straight x subscript 2 open parentheses straight y subscript 3 space minus straight y subscript 1 space close parentheses plus space straight x subscript 3 open parentheses straight y subscript 1 space minus straight y subscript 2 space close parentheses space close square brackets end style
if this value is equal to zero then the points are collinear or else non-collinear.
