In the table, displacement after every second is tabulated. At the end of 1 second, displacement is 6m. At the end of 5 second, displacement is 18m(this included the displacement of 6m at the end of 1 second). Hence to get the distance travelled in the interval 1 second to 5 second, 6m is subtarcted from 18m.
