Secretory and membrane proteins are processed in the peroxisome. Peroxisomes are assembled within the cell. The single membrane that surrounds a peroxisome is characterized by the presence of multiple peroxisomal membrane proteins (PMPs). This membrane originates from the ER which in turn is processed inside the endoplasmic reticulum before transporting into the Golgi body for any modifications.
