rs9000 were divided equally among a certain number of persons.had there been 20 more persons each would have got Rs160 less.find the original no of persons?

Let the original number of persons be n.
9,000/n - 160 = 9,000/(n + 20)
(9,000 - 160n)/n = 9,000/(n + 20)
9,000n = 9,000n - 160n² + 180,000 - 3,200n
160n² - 180,000 + 3,200n = 0
n² + 20n - 1125 = 0
(n - 25)(n + 45) = 0
n = 25 or n = -45
But n cannot be negative. So, n = 25
Thus, the original number of persons is 25.
