Resistance of a cylindrical wire of length 27cm of cross section 1cm^2 is 2ohm. This cylinder is recast into a solid cube. Find the resistance of this cube along any two parallel faces.

Answer:
Resistance R = ρ×(L/A)  , where ρ is resistivity , L is length and A is area of cross section of wire.
 
Hence resistivity of the given material is obtained from above relation as given below
 
ρ = (A/L)×R = [  10-4 / ( 27 × 10-2 ) ] × 2  = 7.7 × 10-4 ohm-m
 
volume of wire = cross section × length = 10-4 × 27 × 10-2 = 27 × 10-6 m3
 
if cube is made for this volume, side of the cube = 3 × 10-2 m
 
Resistance of cube = ρ×(L/A) = 7.7 × 10-4 × [ ( 3 × 10-2 ) / ( 9 × 10-4 ) ] = 2.56 × 10-2 Ω
