Dear Student,
In case of electrolysis of copper sulphate solution using copper electrodes as cathode and and anode,
on application of electricity, one copper electrode becomes negatice which is termed as cathode and another becomes positive i.e. anode.
Aqeous copper sulphate solution has four types of ions viz. H+, Cu2+, SO42- and OH-.
Positively charges Cu2+ get attracted towards cathode, accepts two electrons forming copper metal and get deposited on the cathode.
Cu2+ + 2e- → Cu   (at cathode)
At anode, even thhough it is positive electrode, none of the anons viz. SO42- and OH- get attracted towards anode.
This is because, copper being less electronegative copper from copper anode will give up its electron which will get aborbed by the anode itself.
Thus, the amount of copper metal deposited on cathode is equal to the amount of copper dissolved at anode.
At anode,
Cu → Cu2+ + 2e-
