Rather than protection of trees from cutting, what is the significance of Chipko Movement?

Answer:

‘Chipko Movement’ not only stopped the cutting of trees but also focused upon the importance of trees. Now, trees are regarded not only the source of timber but as an important resource for soil, water and oxygen. This movement also provided a slogan of five Fs i.e. food, fodder, fuel, fibre and fertilizer.
