(1)The himalayas lies at an elevation of 8,848metres whereas the coastal plains have an elevation of 30metres.The rise in elevation of land result in fall of temperature and wind pressure. Thus the northernn part of india experiences much lower temperature than the southern part.

(2)The mountains of himalayas blocks the cold winds from central asia to enter the subcontinent of india. Thus india as a whole experience milder winters.

(3)The tropic of cancer divides the country into two equal halves helping india experience both tropical and subtropical climate. The northern part of india experiences tropical climate and the southern part experiences a subtropical climate .
