Particle P moves between A and C
 
It will first get accelerated and then suffer retardation between C and B
So for majority of the path, there will be increased momentum and energy which help it cover more distance in shorter time
Its horizontal component of velocity will be greater than or equal to v in any case
 
But for the particle Q
 
it is constant and equal to v
 
horizontal displacement of both the particles are equal, so
