CBSE Class 11-science Answered

Question - 4 : A block a frictionless pulley and to its other end another block  B  of mass  m2 = 3 kg is fastened of  mass   m1  = 20 kg rests on a horizontal table. A light string connected to it passes over. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the table is  k = 0.04.  The block A is sliding on the table. Calculate the acceleration of each block and the tension in the string. Take  g = 10 m/s^2.

Tension in the string is due to the gravitiational force geiven by the 3 kg block. Hension Tension in the string = 3×10 = 30 N

Net force acting on block = 3g-0.8g = 2.2g = 2.2×10 = 22 N

hence acceleration of each block  = 22/20 = 1.1 m/s2    . acceleration is common for both the block
