For a brief outline of the Indian judiciary, request you to please refer to our Rrvision Notes.
The Supreme Court is known as the Apex Court because it is the highest judicial forum and final court of appeal. It lies at the top of the Indian judicial system. The Supreme Court is meant to be the last resort and highest appellate court which takes up appeals against judgments of the High Courts of the states.
