PQR is an equilateral triangle of size 2.7cm. What is the locus of (i) points distant 1.7cm from P, (ii) points distant 0.7cm from QR ? What is their compound (or intersecting) locus ?

(i) Locus of points which are at distance 1.7 cm from P is a circle L1 as shown in figure.
(ii) Locus of points which are at a distance 0.7 cm from line QR is Line L2 as shown in figure.
The compound locus or the intersection are two pints A and B as shown in figure.
Location of locus points A and B are confirmed as given below.
Length of AD = (√3/2)PQ = 2.34 cm and DE =0.7 cm. Hence PE = 1.64 cm, hencepoint E is within circle L1.
Hence line L2 intersects Circle L1 at A and B
