Pls explain why Carbondioxide is a gas while silicon dioxide is a solid?

Answer:

Carbon dioxide gas has p pi - p pi bonding while silicon dioxide has pi - d pi bonding.

Carbon dioxide has weak van der Waal's forces of attraction due to which it exist as gas at RT.

Silicon dioxide has bigger 3 D network so exist as solid at RT.
