Let lens-to-object distance be u and lens-to-image distance is v.
 
magnification m = v/u = 3, i.e. v = 3×u
distance from candle to wall is 6 m, i.e. u+v = 6 m
solving for u and v, we get u = 1.5m and v=4.5m
 
we need converging lens or convex lens.
 
focal length is obtained from the equation given below
