The sociocultural environment is an interconnected system that includes social, physical, cultural, economic and political structures and processes. The sociocultural environment exerts an influence on health through resources in physical settings – living conditions in neighborhoods and communities – and through the position people occupy in the hierarchy of societal structure – social position. Social structure and religion of a society greatly influences the culture of that country. Sociocultural environment is an aggregate of social and cultural institutions, forms, patterns, and processes that influence the life of an individual or community.
A given sociocultural environment is likely to create a feeling of solidarity amongst its members, who are more likely to keep together, trust and help one another. They will often think in similar styles and patterns even when their conclusions differ.
Humans essentially create their own cultural and social environment. Customs, practices and traditions for survival and development are passed down from one generation to the next. In this way, the members of a particular society become conditioned to accept certain "truths" about life around them. The critical elements of socio-cultural environment are language, aesthetics, education, religion& superstitions,attitudes, values, material culture, technology, social groups & organizations, business custom practices.
