Expert Answer
p2 x2 + (p2 - q2)x - q2 = 0
Where a = p2, b = (p2 - q2) and c = -q2
b2 - 4ac = (p2 - q2)2 - 4p2(-q2)
= p4 - 2p2q2 + q4 + 4p2q2
= p4 + 2p2q2 + q4
= (p2 + q2)2
x = (-b ± √b2 - 4ac)/2a
x = [-(p2 - q2) ± (p2 + q2)]/2p2
Solving this we get q2/p2 or -1
