Dear Sir/Madam,

XYZ Newspaper,

(Recipient’s Address).

Subject: A short sentence stating the purpose of the letter.

The structure for formal letters remains the same for all topics. Only the subject matter changes.

In a letter to the editor:

1. Address the letter to the editor followed by the name of the news paper and the address of its head office.

2. Begin by mentioning the reason of writing the letter.

3. Include your main concerns or observations in the body.

4. Your suggestions should be included in the concluding paragraph of the letter.
