(i) The physiological process being studied in the given experiment is absorption of water by roots.
(ii) After 2-3 days, you will observe that the level of water in test tube (B) remains unchanged. However, the level of water in test tube (A) drops down.
(iii) The level of water in test tube (A) drops down because the roots of the young plant in test tube (A) absorb water through root hairs.
(iv) The surface of water is covered with oil to prevent the loss of water by evaporation.
(v) The test tube (B) is set up as a control for the experiment so that any change that occurs in the experimental test tube (A) can be compared with the control test tube (B).
