Mating is the pairing of either opposite sex or hermaphroditic organisms, usually for the purposes of sexual reproduction.Mating may lead to internal fertilizatiion (as in humans) and external fertilization (as in frogs and fishes). There are are a set of behaviors used by individuals to attract, select, and retain mates. Mating in bacteria, viruses involves the pairing of individuals, accompanied by the pairing of their homologous chromosomes and then exchange of genomic information leading to formation of same progeny.
