Area of sample = 4 × 10-3 × 25 × 10-5 = 100 × 10-8 m2
 
current passing through area = 4.8 × 10-3 A
 
current density = ( 4.8 × 10-3 )/ ( 100 × 10-8 ) = 4800 A/m2
 
current density =  n × e × v 
 
where n is electron density, e is charge on electron and v is drifting speed of electron
 
hence speed of electron = 4800 / ( 1022 × 1.602 × 10-19 ) ≈ 3 m/s
 
time taken to travel full length = distance/speed = 25 × 10-5 / 3 = 8.33 × 10-5 s ≈ 83 μs
